Before joining PSI, my experience was entirely rooted in clinical dentistry. Like many healthcare professionals, I understood patient care inside out, but I had very little exposure to the non-clinical side of healthcare.
To be honest, joining PSI wasn't something I had planned extensively, it happened quite unexpectedly. What started as an opportunity to explore something different soon became one of the most rewarding learning experiences of my career. During my early days, the work felt relatively simple compared to clinical practice, but as my responsibilities grew, I realized I was stepping into an entirely new world of healthcare innovation.
Over the years, my role evolved far beyond what I had initially expected. I moved from medical content writing to contributing to scientific publications, AI testing, clinical decision support systems (CDSS), dental practice management software, and product validation. Every new responsibility introduced me to a different side of healthcare technology and expanded my perspective on how innovation can improve patient care.
Looking back, one of the biggest changes has been my own confidence. When I started, I relied heavily on guidance. Today, I have the confidence to mentor others across medical, technical, and management aspects of our work. A large part of that transformation has been possible because of the guidance and trust I received from Saumya Ma'am. She encouraged me to explore beyond my comfort zone, welcomed my ideas, and gave me the freedom to take ownership of my work. Instead of limiting me to a defined role, she created an environment where I could learn, experiment, and grow. That trust made all the difference.
One milestone I'm particularly proud of is how my writing journey evolved. I began by creating simple two-page medical documents, and today I have contributed to around ten publications in high-impact journals. Alongside that, I developed the technical understanding needed to actively contribute to healthcare product development, testing, and continuous improvement. Another would be working directly with clients. As someone who naturally considers herself reserved, I never imagined taking on marketing responsibilities. Yet I successfully onboarded multiple clients for our dental CMS and worked closely with them to understand their challenges and provide solutions. That experience strengthened my communication skills and gave me confidence I never knew I had.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of my journey has been contributing to products that make a real difference in healthcare. Equally meaningful has been working in an environment where every idea is valued. Whether it's suggesting improvements during product testing or contributing to product discussions, I've always felt encouraged to share my perspective. Seeing those ideas to become part of real healthcare solutions has been incredibly rewarding.
If I had to describe my journey at PSI in one sentence, I would call it an exciting journey with an incredibly steep learning curve.
For anyone joining the organization, my advice is simple: stay open to learning. If you're coming from a clinical background, many aspects of the role, from technical tools to product development, may feel completely new. Embrace every opportunity, stay curious, and never hesitate to share your ideas. Sometimes a single observation can become the foundation of meaningful innovation.
Looking back, my journey at PSI has shown me that growth comes from embracing unfamiliarity. Every challenge, every new responsibility, and every opportunity to learn has helped shape who I am today. It's a lesson I'll carry with me throughout my career.
