Aarushi Mishra’s Experience at Nyaay AI

Aarushi Mishra | Legal Research Intern

When I joined Nyaay AI, I didn’t expect to feel so involved from the very beginning. It was my first experience in an office environment, and being in the Lucknow office for two months gave me a lot more than just a glimpse into how legal tech works.

It gave me perspective, confidence, and a sense of contribution that I hadn’t felt before.

I started by diving deep into the platform, comparing it with others in the legal tech space, and understanding what made Nyaay AI stand out. I also spent time identifying the areas where it could improve. That research turned into blogs, white papers, and case studies. But beyond just writing, I got the opportunity to think about what more we could build and how we could make the platform better for users. Not just lawyers, but also people without a legal background who might need it most.

One of my favorite parts was thinking through new features. It was something that felt very creative because it wasn’t just about technical possibilities. It was about how a tool like Nyaay AI could genuinely help someone. That blend of research, creativity, and empathy really stayed with me.

My role evolved naturally. I started by observing and analyzing, but as I became more familiar with the product, I started suggesting new things, contributing to discussions, and thinking about how different users might experience the platform. There was space to grow and that made a big difference.

I also got to work on a case study focused on the Singapore Supreme Court, which gave me insights into how legal systems elsewhere function and how a platform like ours could align with global standards. But more than any specific project, what stood out was how collaborative everything felt. I was never treated like just an intern. I was part of the conversations. The suggestions I made were actually considered. That kind of inclusion made my work feel meaningful.

There were challenges too. For example, while coming up with new ideas, I had to make sure they were practical and aligned with the team’s vision. That balance wasn’t always easy, but it pushed me to think more deeply. It was the kind of challenge I enjoyed.

In the beginning, I was a little hesitant to speak up, especially when my suggestions questioned something that already existed. But over time, that changed. I felt like part of the team. The people around me were supportive, open, and always willing to help. Whether it was Tanisha or Sneha, I always felt comfortable sharing anything.

Something I realized during my time here was how valuable a fresh perspective can be. There were things I noticed on the website or within the product that may not have stood out to someone who had been working on it for a long time. That helped me understand how important it is to bring in new voices and ideas, especially in fast-moving teams like this.

If someone asked me what others could take away from my journey, I would say this: stay curious and don’t hesitate to ask questions. The team is always there to support you and your ideas can actually lead to real changes. Try to understand the why behind everything. That mindset makes a big difference.

On my first day at the Lucknow office, I was nervous. It was all new. The tools, the team, the space. But everyone was welcoming and made sure I understood the work and the larger vision. By the end of that day, I was already excited about the projects ahead.

Looking back, I’m grateful for the trust, the guidance, and the exposure I got. This experience helped me see how technology can play a big role in making law more accessible. And it also showed me how teams can work together to build something that actually matters.

Even though my internship has ended, I’m always happy to help whenever the team needs me. That’s how much this journey has meant.

Recognition that Matters.
